Uber Helicopter Taxis Are Now Available To Anyone

According to Reuters, Uber has already opened up its helicopter shuttle service called “Uber Copter”, which operates helicopter flights to transit people to the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York, to more people. Previously, this high-end service was only limited to Uber Rewards members during this past summer. So, if you’re living in New York, having the app, and also going to have a flight taking off from JFK International Airport, let’s give a try!

A flight from or to JFK with the service will take you around eight minutes while costing from $200 t0 $225, depending on specific demands. The predicted fees already include both ground transportation on either side of an Uber Copter flight. At present, a ground transportation plan could set you back a lot of money once they want to travel between places such as Manhattan and Queens, so this could still be a selling point for the service while most of its competitors are not offering complimentary ground transportation.

Aside from the price, you won’t likely save time with Uber Copter. As reported by Reuters, a flight from its Midtown Manhattan-located office to JFK Airport wiped out roughly 70 minutes. However, the exact time duration in the airborne trip must be much lesser, considering that these passengers needed not only public transportation but also two Uber rides after the helicopter took off and landed. As such, the company promises to operate more heliports in the attempt to shorten customers’ travel time while there’s only one until now.

The launch of Uber Copter service has been considered as a testing phase before the company gets ready for its future air taxi service namely Uber Air, which is set to come in 2023.
