Roomba robotic vacuums are cleaners that can move around the house on their own to clear all the rubbish. Even those models which are upgraded with mapping function can remember places that have been cleaned; however, obstacles like stairs or thresholds are still big challenges with these cleaning robots.
With the aim of bringing automatic cleanliness for their houses, engineers have upgraded a Roomba robot vacuum cleaner into a drone with three propellers that can help it fly over objects. Notably, an independent robot can achieve the heights of some centimeters. To illustrate more vividly, engineer Peter Sripol, who is one of the creators of this robot, has shared a video of its abilities on his Youtube channel.
The engineer added a trio of ducted fans to manufacture the new version of Robot Vacuum cleaner. This can help it fly a myriad of obstacles and stairs to make users’ houses as clean as a whistle. However, it can not automatically fly over them. Therefore, a remote is needed to control its flying. The only problem that makes this product less desirable for the consumers might be the propellers’ dust creation while starting, comparing to the clean and quiet previous Roomba cleaner.
Actually, the making of this flying robotic vacuum was not something complex. The engineer just had to estimate whether the weight of the cleaner was light enough for it to fly when adding fans, motor, and batteries. Although the appearance of this cleaner may not seem very appealing, it is truly a proof of concept that will surely catch the most hard-headed customers’ attention.
Flying a drone is used to be prohibited in India but the rules have been changed starting from December 2018. You can now start investing in drone cameras for breathtaking shots and awesome videos. Here’s drone camera price in India.
