This US Navy Boat Looks Like A Toy Made Of Lego

What do you picture when you think about war machines? If you only think of huge tanks and battleships, this little boat will change your viewpoint.

What do you picture when you think about war machines? Maybe a huge battleship, a big tank, or a jet that carries small rockets. But it’s time you learned that not all military vehicles are big-sized machines. A good example of this statement is this Navy ship that’s like a little tugboat.

The small-sized tugboat, which looks a lot like a Lego construction, surfaced on Reddit earlier this week. Its job isn’t to fight anything, but rather to deploy underwater fences. The boat looks really cute and it has a cute job too.

The little tugboat is only 5.7 meters long and serves as a “Boomin Beaver” security tugboat. It was made to herd logs in waterways. But it’s now an all-purpose vessel whose responsibility is towing small ships and deploying security fences on the water.

Initially, the tugboat was built for loggers but the US Navy purchased them for harbor duties. Interestingly, a Reddit user recognized the little boat, who said that it was operating in California. The user wrote:

“It’s a security tug. Those protective barriers surrounding the water portion of the navy base don’t move themselves. It’s the equivalent of opening the gate for cattle to go in and out. Unlock it, unlatch it, swing it open, and close it when the ship has passed.”

In fact, in 2006, one small tugboat of this class was auctioned with a width of 3 meters and a length of 5.7 meters. It housed a 260-horsepower engine along with ZF marine transmission. It was sold for over Rs 73.9 ($100,025).
