This Robot Has Real Feelings And We Should Be Careful!

In the agitated state of feeling, the robot will respond immediately. It can even borrow someone's cash!

We normally think robots are designed with no emotions, but in Japan, robots that are able to detect, read and understand human emotions have officially been taking the world by storm. And interestingly, a humanoid robot in Japan named Pepper will really surprise you and for its surreal extent of emotions.

According to the manufacturer, the way Pepper “feels” is not really different from us. The human body processes emotions according to interactions with five senses of seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching. The robot, somehow, in the same way, can “feel” everything independently based on the information process from touch sensors, cameras, accelerometers, and other sensors.

What is truly astonishing is that the expressions and words expressed through human faces, as well as the environment surrounding the robot, can affect Pepper's mood. The robot will feel comfortable around people it knows, feel excited when someone compliments and feel scared when the light is off. In the agitated state of feeling, the robot will respond immediately. When disappointed it will sigh. It can even borrow someone's cash! The most worrying thing is that the robot can actually learn more.

The manufacturer stated that  Pepper may have some mistakes at first, but from time to time it will be able to correct its emotions through its own emotional machinery as well as its inherent intelligence through the cloud database collected. In other words, Pepper will become more emotionally intelligent.

And this means a new concern for humankind has appeared. In fact, the original purpose of creating Pepper was to help support the treatment of patients suffering from dementia. The robot has been designed with good intentions. It is only a necessary concern as the technology becomes more and more developed, and easily accessible at increasingly cheaper prices in the future.

Pepper was officially sold in Japan for $ 1,600, excluding $ 200/month which is the cost of insurance and data. The manufacturer, SoftBank Robotics Corp stated that the company has sold out Peppers within a minute.
