This Priest Uses Water Pistol To Spread Holy Water Because Of Social Distancing

This priest's invention has made him become an Internet phenomenon in just one night.

In America, where the social distancing rules are enforced more rigorously than ever due to the death toll caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, a Roman Catholic priest has come up with a new way to stick to it during the religious rituals.

Father Tim Pelc’s invention has made him become an Internet phenomenon in just one night. In particular, his act of using a water pistol aka ‘pichkari’ to squirt holy water to the churchgoers has attracted a lot of attention from netizens all around the world.

Enjoying a little new-found fame from Father Tim’s invention, parishioner Larry Peplin was the one who had taken then posted several photos of the process. Those pictures have been displayed on St. Ambrose Parish page on Facebook since April.

The center of those pictures - Priest Tim - was recorded at the church in Grosse Pointe Park. Although the photos dated from Easter, they have just become viral on the Internet and seen as a source of many new-born memes.

A picture that is considered to be the most attractive shows the 70-year-old priest aiming his water pistol at churchgoers to spread holy water. Together with other parody versions, Pelc said he was a bit worried about how the Vatican would react when they see those memes being spread like wildfire on the Internet. However, there has been no announcement made yet.

The priest also added that this idea initially made for the children of the parish as they were about to have an unusual Easter. To prepare for that, he consulted his friend being an emergency doctor to conduct the stunt after considering the safety factors. Therefore, Easter was celebrated in joy and happiness.

Regarding the coronavirus situation in Michigan, parishioners have also paid tribute to patients who died of COVID-19 by tying blue ribbons on trees at the church.
