While a water crisis is what Chennai is dealing with, Mumbai is suffering ceaseless downpour, leading to serious waterlogging issues. Flooded streets causing traffic jams and turning everybody’s daily life upside down. MET department reports the situation will last for the next few days at least. Two different incidents involving collapsing wall has taken the lives of around two dozen people. And on June 2, the Tiware Dam’s breach took away six more lives while injured two dozen people.
One of the reasons for Mumbai’s flooding is the lack of a rainwater harvesting system. But there are people who are putting forward the idea of harvesting rainwater to save it for later use.
A Facebook user whose name is Subhajit Mukherjee recently posted a post about this initiative.
The post quickly has quickly gone viral and has over 1000 shares. And internet users are cheering for the idea. The man has stated that he would be responsible for all the installation charges. Not only does he want to install the system in local schools, but also instruct students to do it.
He is also in the process of making a video that will help people understand the project better. So if anyone wants to install it at home, it will be cost-effective and easy to do.
While the rain is disrupting the city, it is such a great idea to save the rainwater for later. As a country is dealing with a severe water crisis, every drop counts.
