According to a recent media report, Dubai set up an e-waste recycling facility that is considered the largest one all over the world.
The e-waste recycling facility in Dubai is hoped to partially deal with the current amount of waste.
On March 24, the report from the Gulf News revealed that the facility is positioned at the Dubai Industrial Park and has the area of 280,000 square feet. It will focus on processing all kinds of waste as follows: specialized garbage, refrigerant gas, WEEE (or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), and ITAD (or IT asset disposition).
When considering the most prominent point of the facility, it must be the applicability of the modern reclamation technology that meets all strict standards the European Union prescribes towards e-waste.
The facility is supposed to have the ability to process up to 1 lakh tonnes of all types of waste each year. Among those, about 39,000 tonnes of waste hails from e-waste.
When the amount of e-waste has got unprecedented massive, a facility to recycle e-waste will become more and more vital.
In addition, the facility also makes a strong impression on the world due to its processing a series of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment including waste from the military, commercial, industries, and consumers.
The Swiss Government Export Finance Agency is the one who invests $5 million (equivalent to 120 million dirhams) for developing the project.
