Art is an area that requires extreme creativity as well as imaging skills and shaping, coloring thinking. Even with technological development, humans still play a vital role in the success of an artwork.
Humans come up with the idea and sketch the painting to create a reasonable structure that meets the eye. Then, they use graphics tablets or graphics software to complete the work. However, Google has recently proven the opposite when it introduced a new AI app called Chimera Painter with the ability to turn your worst ketches into amazing artworks.
This app uses the GAN system, where two neural networks compete with each other and complete each other, to create monster pictures like those in card games. In this system, one neural network is responsible for generating new images while the other recognizes the man-made parts in the input data.
Developers at Chimera Painter trained GAN by using thousands of pictures of animals and other creatures on the computer. Each picture is paired with a segmentation map that shows their body parts. This allows GAN to create new monsters based on the drawings of different parts.
In a recent blog post, the developers wrote:
“It is our hope that these GAN models and the Chimera Painter demonstration tool might inspire others to think differently about their art pipeline,” the app’s creators wrote in a blog post.”
You can download the app from their website and try it out yourself. It lets you upload your own pictures, either from the internet or your own photos/drawings, or you can create a completely new set of images on the site.
