Although flying cars are a concept that appears in many sci-fi movies, it still remains an unanswered problem for many tech giants. This might become a solution to deal with traffic congestion as well as improving the air quality if the vehicle is an electric one.
Kyxz Mendiola, a guy from Phillippines, has made a huge achievement by researching and building such a vehicle. As a person with over 10 years working with drones in the film industry, Kyxz successfully built a flying car called Koncepto Millenya. The car looks like a giant drone and can fly continuously in 15 minutes.
Kyxz called himself the first man to invent the smallest flying car in the world and the first Filipino to own a flying vehicle that can take off and land vertically without having to gain momentum.
It took Kyxz 6 years and a huge amount of money to build this unique vehicle. After many failures, he finally found the right design, materials, and technology for Koncepto Millenya.
Kyxz’s flying car can tackle the two biggest problems that Manila, the capital of the Philippines, are facing: traffic congestion and pollution. In 2016, Waze, a popular application for maps and live navigation considered Manila to be the city with the worst traffic. This led to the government spending $14 million to build another city larger than the US’ Manhattan area to deal with Manila’s overpopulation and improve the quality of the environment.
Koncepto Millenya operates completely on electricity with its own specialized battery. At the moment, it takes around 2.5 hours to fully charge the battery of the vehicle for a 15-minute flight. However, this is still a successful achievement and the flying time can surely be improved in the future.
Right after the video of the flying car was uploaded online, many investors have shown their interests in Kyxz’s project. Star8, a technology company providing environment-friendly solutions has proposed their intention to mass-produce Koncepto Millenya.
