The Indian Must Be Proud If Sir JC Bose Becomes The New Face Of 50-Pound Note
Jyotis
The polyhistor Sir JC Bose could be the new face of 50-pound note. That will make the Indian feel proud.
According to an official statement from the Bank of England, the UK's 50-pound note will soon possess a new look and Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose – a renowned Indian scientist may appear on this note.
This time, the Bank of England wants to bring the scientific world to its population and among over 1 lakh nominations include the one who did pioneering work for Wi-Fi, Sir JC Bose.
The Bank is collecting all the recommendations from citizens to seek the new face of 50-pound note. This is absolutely normal to several banks in the world like the Reserve Bank of India.
Until 26th November, its official website received about 175,000 nominations that are much more than the first list of 114,000 nominations. Apart from Sir JC Bose, there are a lot of world-class names like Stephen Hawking, Margaret Thatcher, and Alexander Fleming.
Back to Sir JC Bose, his contributions in science could be undeniable. Without him, wireless communications might not be developed as impressively as it is now. It is likely that we haven’t yet approached the radio and of course, there will be no Wi-Fi on any laptop or smartphone.
Almost all of us think Guglielmo Marconi invented the modern day radio via transatlantic radio communications in 1901; but it’s not true. In fact, Bose did the same thing via electromagnetic wave communications a few years before 1901.
One of Bose’s most prominent characteristics is that he always encouraged other students to exploit and develop his scientific researches. It was in 1896 that Bose and Marconi met with each other when Marconi was looking for how to develop a wireless telegraphy system via radio wave and introduce his work to the British post service. And hence, Marconi’s success has had the critical contributions from Sir JC Bose.
During Bose’s all life, he received several big patents; of which included the first solid-state diode that could acquire electromagnetic waves.
Bose was not only a physicist but he also succeed in many other fields like archaeology, biology, biophysics, and botany. Especially, in the botany, he invented a Cresco graph to measure the growth in plants, and therefore, agricultural scientists could find the more efficient ways to get the bumper harvest.
With his great contributions, Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose absolutely deserves to become the new face of UK’s 50-pound note.
