Tesla Introduces New 'Solar Roof' Tiles, More Effective But Cheaper

Now customers can order these new Solar Roof tiles on the company’s official website.

Earlier this week, Tesla had a company’s earnings call. On the sidelines, Tesla also spent a while mentioning Tesla Energy, as well as announcing its new cutting-edge solar tiles called Solar Roof. As said by Elon Musk, you’ll save up a significant amount of budget if you replace your old roof with these tiles, instead of a combo including new roofs and separate solar panels.

The new Solar Roof won’t set you back too much money.

These Solar Roof tiles are the third version amongst two previous predecessors. With the new technology, its power density has been increased although the tiles get half the parts reduced. From that, it won’t set you back a lot of money in comparison with the second generation solar tiles.

According to Musk, edge cases in which a roof and solar panels are cheaper than his company’s Solar Tiles will be still available, but Solar Tiles will be cheaper than any solution most of the time. As for installation, Tesla will initialize the process itself then hire third-party contractors to complete the rest. It takes about eight hours to have the tiles installed, actually not a time-consuming event.

Solar Roof tiles are now available on the company's website.

Up to now, tiles are only in black glass style, so you may need to wait for a while when the company introduces new variants. Interestingly, it’s reportedly working on Mediterranean-style clay tiles. Now customers can order these new Solar Roof tiles on the company’s official website. Once they choose to feature their houses with these tiles, they’ll get a 25-year warranty.
