So what did the Macbook producer really want to tell us when they said that they had changed the material in order to improve the MacBook Pro 2019's keyboard? With this article, you will be able to understand more about what is going with the said improvements on the butterfly keyboard.

New Changes

IFixit has taken the laptop apart, which helps to reveal some new changes to the famous butterfly mechanism that could change the reliability of the laptop's keyboard.

First, they have used another material of the switch cover from polyacetylene to polyamide (nylon). We are not sure how this change of material would improve the keyboard, so it is kind of a conspicuous move. And from the look of it, it seems like there is also changes with the metal cover of the switch, maybe new heat treatment or different alloy. This might add some more resilience to the product and could help protect the switch from deforming or breaking due to tear, heat, wear, or other reasons.

No Major Design Change

But that means the keyboard is as expensive to fix ( for Apple) as before. But it is likely that Apple must replace the assembly of the top case together with the Touch Bar, speakers, and battery if there is a single error with only one key. That might be not that big of an issue as Apple will improve the durability of the keyboard, but still, if you would like to keep using it after the warranty, then you might have to look more into it.
