Tata Consultancy Service surpassed Reliances Industries Limited in the market capitalization ranking and became the most valuable company in India at the moment.
According to the latest report, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is the largest company in India at the moment. This Mumbai-based information technology company has just recently surpassed technology services company giant Reliances Industries Limited (RIL) and got the first position in the top five most valuable Indian companies.
TCS has surpassed RIL in market capitalization and become the largest company in India today. TCS shares closed with a market capitalization of Rs 8,37,194.55 crore yesterday. Meanwhile, at the end of yesterday's trading session, the valuation of RIL on BSE was Rs 8,36,024 crore and ranked second in the country. Other firms in the list are HDFC Bank with Rs 6,66,533.49 crore, HUL with Rs 4,00,325.83 crore and HDFC with Rs 3,78,236.52 crore.
In May, RIL has regained the title of the most valuable company from TCS. It seems like they have to do it again. While the shares of RIL rose 0.27% to close at Rs 1,318.85 yesterday, TCS shares rose 2.39% to close at Rs 2,231.10.
Even with a market capitalization of Rs 8 lakh crore, these companies from India are still not comparable to big corporations in the world. A typical example is Microsoft, which currently holds the highest market capitalization in the US and the world with Rs 68,52,446.25. Microsoft's market cap is currently 8.18 times more than India's most valuable company.
Apple is a company with a market capitalization 8.08 times higher than Tata Consultancy Services and is currently second in the world. Next up was Alphabet, Google's parent company, which took third place globally with a capitalization of 6.8 times than TCS. Amazon, which has a capitalization of 6.5 times compared to India's leading IT company, is currently ranked fourth in the world. This shows that Indian businesses still have a lot of things to do to catch up with these companies.
