To ensure that the lockdown orders are strictly followed, local authorities in China are beginning to install more security cameras right outside the households’ door and even inside their houses.

According to CNN, cameras have already been in use for over 2 months in several Chinese provinces. As a result, they successfully create an expansion in their gigantic surveillance system in order to collect 24-hour information from households during the pandemic.
China’s responses towards the pandemic have gradually intended to become more digitized as they developed an app that warns people if they had close interactions with infected ones and informs them whether they have to quarantine themselves.

CNN's newest reports mention the justification of Chinese officials about the new cameras as they believe that it will be a chance to approach closer to the automation. On a Weibo post in February, the Nanjing government explained the cameras’ roles as they could be useful in cutting down personnel expenditures and increasing work performance quality.
CNN also reports a mixture of tons of various opinions from people on social media, though getting an honest feeling is quite a difficulty as a result of harsh censorship from China government towards social media posts.
But still, there is a number of people who clearly have an objective attitude. For example, Beijing resident Ian Lahiffe said to CNN that those cameras were truly a threat to people’s privacy.
