Stephen Hawking is a world-renowned British theoretical physicist, famous for his contributions to the fields of quantum gravity, general relativity, and cosmology. Anybody knows such things, but the followings are some facts that not everyone knows.
After a lifetime fighting with a progressive neurological disease called amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or motor neuron disease (MND), Hawking drew his last breath at 76. He left the whole world and his family with two former wives, two sons, one daughter, and grandchildren behind in regret.
However, the intriguing thing here lies in the coincidence centering around his death, in particular, the day he departed from this life. Hawking died on 14th March 2018. March 14 (3/14) is also known as Pi Day, the annual celebration of the mathematical constant.
This is because 3, 1, and 4 are the first three important digits of Pi. In addition, this day is also the anniversary of the birth of the great physicist Albert Einstein, one of the two pillars of modern physics.
Not only that, Hawking's date of birth does matter. He was born on January 8, 1942, which was the 300th anniversary of Galileo Galilei's death. If you recall, Galilei is known as under various names including the “father of scientific method," “father of the observational astronomy," “father of modern science," and “father of modern physics."
This genius has made a great leap in mathematics and significantly contributed to the observational astronomy, one of which is the confirmation of the phases of Venus.
Hawking had followed these two geniuses in widening the knowledge of the world around us. And somehow, these three masterminds had all been linked through a fateful day. You cannot be sure about the afterlife, but when Hawking died, you can imagine him going to a better place.
In a totally different world, he might be sitting down beside the river of time, sipping at his tea and discussing the theory of relativity with Galileo and Einstein.
