Last week, Elon Musk unveiled a slew of new details about his in-development Starship with a prototype of this cargo-optimized spacecraft. As projected, the plan will take place in the next six months then Starship’s expedition will go into orbit. For those who'd love to pay attention to the historic plan, you can keep up with the latest news through a new webpage, which SpaceX has recently added into its official website as a specific section. Now you can explore more about it here.
In short, the dedicated webpage will release all publications and catalogues related to not only the Spaceship itself but also accompanying mechanisms and facilities such as the Super Heavy booster rocket (they’re collectively referred to as Starship as well), Raptor engine system, and so on. SpaceX has posted excellent images and renders, even 360-degree photos. Aside from that content, the webpage also lists a number of possible ways to explain how the rocket would work in both Earth’s orbit and in the middle of the solar system.
The one and only goal that Starship has been tasked with is to deliver a cargo capacity of 100 metric tons to anywhere in the Earth’s orbit. According to the webpage, the Super Heavy booster will sport a set of 25 Raptor engines while there is a total of 6 units powering the Starship.
Furthermore, once it gets orbital refueling, it will further be able to take the freight and passengers to the Moon or Mars. In particular, SpaceX officially reported that Starship will carry as many as 100 passengers on long-duration, interplanetary flights. If successful, this will be an unforgettable milestone for being the world's first reusable rocket throughout human history.
