Recently, the Indian police arrested a software engineer after this guy reportedly hacked his former employer and deleted information, hoping they would rehire him.
The IT specialist was identified to be Vikesh Sharma. Sharma used to work as a senior software engineer. But during the lockdown, because of his disagreement with the company over his salary, he was fired. But instead of looking for a new job, Sharma was trying to get his job back in a very odd way. What he did was hacking into the database of his former employer, detecting the details of thousands of patients, hoping his former boss would contact to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen.
After detecting the security breach, the former employer notified the police. An investigation was launched. Through IP tracking, as soon as Sharma tried to delete more data, he was caught. The police arrested him in Old Maujpur. Sharma also admitted his guilt.
According to Sharma’s confession, he hacked into the database of his former employer, deleted 18,000 data entries belong to patients, 300,000 patients billing information, made about 22,000 false entries, just hoping he would be called back to work.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, new cases of hackers hacking e-learning classes have appeared in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Reportedly, a class 10 student logged into an e-learning section of class 9 students and posted obscene content. As most schools now switch to online learning, the issue of safety and privacy remains a major point of concern.
