According to Robert Redfield - director of U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the damage caused by the second wave of COVID-19 virus in the upcoming flu season could possibly be much greater as compared to the first one.

During the interview with The Washington Post, Redfield revealed that despite many efforts in warning people against the deadly virus, Americans still seem to ignore medical advices about the attack of COVID-19 virus towards them in the next winter, which could be extremely harder to deal with. In his words, the US healthcare system will be at risk of losing control if it has to handle two massive epidemics at the same time.
A recent report has shown the number of casualties in US caused by the first wave has gone up to more than 45,000 people. Infected cases has continuously increased and will soon reach a million. Fortunately, this wave arrived after the last flu season had been under control.

The CDC director also emphasized the necessity of social distancing and the importance of COVID-19 testing. Experts have considered those measures to be effective in preventing both hospital and the virus from getting out of control.
However, some US states have appeared to ignore the warning. They have come up with a decision of reopening while the country is on the verge of having most deaths in the world.
Redfiled implied once again that getting flu shots is very important as it would help hospitals control the situation better, and there will be more hospital beds available for your loved ones in case they test positive for the virus.
