Amid Covid-19 outbreak, Samsung's “Galaxy Sanitizing Service" allows users to come and get their smartphones cleaned in any of its service centers.

Washing your hand will become meaningless as soon as you touch your smartphone. A report suggests that there are about 25,000 bacteria and germs per square inch on your smartphone. To put it into context, a toilet seat inside a washroom has 1,200 germs for each square inch. So, you get the idea. Aiming to keep smartphones bacteria and germless amid COVID-19 outbreak, South-Korean tech giant Samsung will introduce a new service called “Galaxy Sanitizing Service,” allowing users to come and get their smartphones cleaned in any of the company’s service centers.

It is worth noting that conventional phone cleaners that come in spray bottles aren’t really effective in killing bacteria and germs. What’s worse is that it may even damage the device’s internal components. So, for Samsung’s disinfection process, the UV-C light will be reportedly used. Scientifically speaking, because of the UV-C light’s shorter wavelength, it can instantly kill harmful microorganisms.

Samsung has not confirmed if the program has started in any of its stores. But the information about the program has already been uploaded on the company’s official website in Malaysia but it was later removed.
