Roof Blasted By Wind, Tesla Model Y Turns Into A Convertible

Nathaniel Galicia Chien was driving his parents on a brand new Tesla Model Y. Suddenly, there was a wind blowing inside while he didn’t even open the windows.

Chien said that at first, he thought someone lowered the windows of the car. But half a minute later, the roof of his car was blown away by the wind.

According to Chien, the incident happened just hours after he and his parents received their Tesla Model Y from a dealership in Dublin, California. Chien’s family has realized that some details on their newly purchased car aren’t quite fit and complete. The gaps aren’t uniform either.

These are fairly common problems with Tesla cars so Chien ignored them. However, he couldn’t imagine that the car’s entire glass roof could come off on the first day he drove it.

For many years, Tesla has always had car quality problems. The Model Y released in 2018 just made things worse. But never before has the roof of Tesla come off while traveling on a highway like the incident with Chien.

Fortunately, his family was safe. And there was no moving car behind Chien’s car so there weren’t any unfortunate accidents. Chien reported the problem to the California Highway Patrol so they could handle the blown away glass roof.

Chien has also made a trip to the Tesla dealership in Dublin with his Model Y turned convertible. A tesla service rep told him that the roof pin was probably faulty or that Tesla workers had somehow forgotten to fix the roof.

The dealership has offered Chien free repair service for his Model Y. It would also pay for his family’s rent while they wait for the car. However, Chien refused the offer and wanted the money back as his family wants to purchase another car from a different brand.
