After India bans 118 Chinese apps along with the hugely popular PUBG Mobile, local tech companies have wasted no time to try to fill in the void left on the market.
Only days after the PUBG Mobile is gone, nCore Games, an Indian startup, introduced its multiplayer game called FAU-G: Fearless And United Guards.
According to nCore Games, the title was built on the real-life scenarios Indian soldiers have to face in the Galwan Valley dispute.
After banning the first batch of 59 Chinese apps, including Helo and TikTok, PM Narendra Modi launched a challenge called Atma Nirbhar Bharat for Indian developers to make apps for the local market. nCore Games said FAU-G is its answer to this challenge.
The startup was founded by Vishal Gondal whose other venture – IndiaGames, was acquired by Disney for $100 million. He said the company would donate 20% of FAU-G’s net revenue to an organization called Bharat Ke Veer Trust, which supports army personnel’s families.
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has also made public that the game would get his endorsement.
When TikTok was banned in India, lots of other apps show up to fill the void left by the short-video sharing platform, including Chingari, Moj, Roposo, and Mitron. So it comes as no surprise that a game like FAU-G: Fearless And United Guards is introduced to replace PGBG Mobile.
Before being axed in India, PUBG Mobile was the game with the largest number of players. As stated in a report by App Annie, an analytics company, the game boasted the highest number of weekly users in the country.
The report also reveals that users spend twice as much time with PUBG Mobile than they do with the second title on the list.
However, to see if FAU-G can offer something unique to pull in players or it’s just another copycat trying to monetize on the fame of a more established title, we will have to wait until October to try the game out.
