PUBG Mobile India has cut ties with Tencent – Chinese game distributor.
This announcement was issued by PUBG Corp and it was made public days after the Indian government banned the hugely popular game along with 117 other apps by Chinese developers.
The company said Tencent was no longer authorized to distribute PUBG Mobile in India and PUBG Corp would take back all the responsibilities of the game in India.
This means Bluehole, the Korean video game firm which owns PUBG Corp will handle all future updates of PUBG Mobile in India if the ban will ever be lifted.
While PUBG Corp has said nothing about the reason behind this decision, the current situation hints as the hope to shed the game off the Chinese app tag to evade future sanctions from the Indian government.
It’s unclear how the company plans to handle users’ data from now on but it promises security and privacy would be its top priority.
PUBG Corp also hopes to work with the Indian government to save the game in India, all while complying with local regulations and laws.
