The comment exchange on Facebook made it sound more like they were in love rather than in an arrest. After a few stood-ups, the man turned himself in.

It’s no longer time for traditional ‘wanted’ posters like the old days; instead, the police now rely on media to search for criminals. For example, they can make a short notice on the news, on TV, radio, and newspaper, etc., to inform everyone about a wanted criminal. And as everyone is on social media now (like Facebook), why not look for criminals there too?
This is exactly what a police department in Richland, WA, did. In particular, they went on Facebook to issue a wanted request for 38-year-old Anthony Akers for Failure to Comply.
In fact, this type of posts surfaces pretty often but the police don’t expect much, which makes this incident even more interesting, and a bit funny maybe. It appears that, out of nowhere, Anthony Akers himself was the first to comment on this post, saying that he would turn himself in.
The wanted man turned out to have a few things to take care of before staying behind bars for a month and would be at the police department as soon as possible. The incident went on when the police were likely astonished by the quick response of Akers and decided to play along.
However, Akers seemed to play hard to catch, failing to show up at the police after promising to arrive there within 48 hours. The exchange following those comments was proof to a fact that the relationship between the police and the offender isn’t necessarily bitter. In fact, it can be friendly, gentle, and hilarious.
After standing the police up for a couple of times, Akers finally showed up.
A happy ending to a ‘love story’ with so many ups and downs, thanks to the help of social media.
