PM Modi’s Measures To Fight COVID-19 Receive Praise From Bill Gates

For his practical leadership in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has just received praise from Bill Gates.
The co-founder of Microsoft and the world’s second wealthiest man has applauded PM Modi and the government of India for having the right measures to contain the spread of the virus in the country.

In his letter, Bill Gates complimented PM Modi’s leadership as well as the proactive approach that India had to flatten the curve of infection rates in the country.
The methods that had been highlighted by the billionaire included a national lockdown, focused testing expansion for hotspots identification, quarantine, increased budget for healthcare for the health system response strengthening, R&D, and digital innovation promoting.
Besides applauding the precautionary measures and on-ground efforts of the government, the Microsoft co-founder also praised the country’s digital solutions with the Aarogya Setu app as the prime example. The COVID-19-dedicated app was recently launched by the government.
In the United States, Bill Gates has also been providing aid to the country. Through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, he has funded research on the COVId-19 vaccine, offered free testing kits, and is WHO’s second-largest financial support.

However, on social media platforms, the tech billionaire has been criticizing Trump’s measures and approach toward the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, he praised the Indian Prime Minister for his ways of tackling the pandemic.
Despite the considerable economic loss, the government still decided to put the whole country under lockdown, a move considered to be the right solution by Gates.
