Plant-Based Eggs Won Its First Big Fast-Food Deal

Plant-based burgers have been riding the trend of fast food industry recently. Another product that belongs to the same category has also had some initial success, which is eggs with plant origin and their first deal with a huge fast-food chain.

JUST And Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons (a well-known coffee chain in Canada) is testing out JUST Egg at several locations in Canada.

Andrew Noyes (the spokesman of JUST) has delivered a statement on this matter. He said that the demand for JUST products in Canada was very high and they were looking forward to offering their products in this test.

Tim Hortons has started to join the trend of vegan substitutes in 2019. They began by offering imitation sausage of Beyond Meat on their breakfast sandwiches. Recently, they have also added Beyond Burger to their menu (it was their first burger).

Jane Almeida (spokeswoman of Tim Hortons) delivered a statement from their side. She said that they were testing many new products in selected Tim Hortons locations across Canada. For example, recently, they introduced Beyond Burger and breakfast sandwiches with Beyond Meat. They would continue to test these products and get feedback from customers, to decide whether they should expand their plant-based items on the menu.

JUST And Plant-Based Eggs

According to data from the Association of Plant-Based Foods, the sales figure of eggs with plant origin has reached 6 million dollars in just 12 months.

JUST (previously named - Hampton Creek) uses turmeric, mung bean, and other plant-based ingredients to recreate the texture, taste, and look of eggs.

The company has already signed deals with many restaurants like Gregory’s Coffee and  Bareburger. You can also find their eggs at grocery stores like Whole Foods and Safeway.
