Our lives have completely been changed by the emergence of social media. We want to be presentable and look good to the world, no matter what we have to do.
In an attempt to become viral on the internet, a Washington young man decided to jump off a cruise, specifically from its 11th floor. The clip shows how his friends were standing right next to him and cheering, encouraging him to go on. As a result, the company running the cruise, Royal Caribbean Cruises, has taken action and banned the man in question together with his friends from all their cruises, for life.
After being uploaded on the internet, the video has gone viral. The man in question was Nikolay Naydev, a 27-year-old man. The cruise ship was traveling in the Bahamas when he jumped off it. In the comments section, a user questioned whether he was still drunk from the previous night.
Naydev said that the clip was just for fun and a good joke for his friends. He planned to swim to the shore after jumping. But when the security from the ship reached him, he together with his friends was order to pack their bags and leave right away.
Legal action against these guys is being considered by the cruise company.
This isn’t the first time people trying to create viral videos for social media, to gain more popularity. A few weeks ago, the hashtag #DoItForTheGlam went viral and in order to have a viral video, several Instagrammers jumped from high buildings.
It is one thing to become famous, and another thing is just plain stupidity. No amount of popularity is worth risking your life.
