Mosquitoes have a specialty. They can disappear right in front of our eyes. And when we turn off the lights to go to sleep, they just appear from out of nowhere, buzzing beside our ears.
To deal with this, technology firm Bzigo just unveiled a really unique device. A laser machine that can help you easily detect mosquitoes in just a few seconds.
Particularly, this system includes an IR camera, a laser designator, and integrated computer vision algorithms. It will scan the whole room, detect the location of the mosquito within 800 meters and send all the details to your smartphone via WiFi connection. You can set up this system on any flat surface, from your desk to your cupboard or the wall in your room.
Of course, Bzigo’s laser is not as powerful as the one you see in the Superman movie. Its intensity is really light as it only searches and detects mosquitoes. Therefore, it is absolutely safe for your eyes.
A Bzigo ad shows that Bzigo will take care of the hardest part, which is looking for the mosquitoes. And the rest is for you to decide. At the moment, Bzigo is still researching anti-mosquito technology using tiny drones that can detect and kill these mosquitoes in seconds. Once the drone finishes its job, it will automatically fly back to its charging dock.
According to WHO, mosquitoes are the cause of several pandemics like malaria, dengue fever and yellow fever in many regions of the world. WHO also warns that every year, there are around 20 million cases of malaria.
The company’s CEO, Nadav Benedek shared that, when he was a kid, every time when his family went to bed, his father had to spend 10 minutes to kill all the mosquitoes. That was why he decided to found Bzigo with his partners back in 2016 and spent three years developing this laser system.
Bzigo’s mosquito scanner will hit the market at the end of this year or in 2021. The price will be somewhere around $170 or Rs 12,000. What makes mosquitoes like one person over others? There are five things that you should know which make mosquitoes bite you more.
