Kubota Pharmaceuticals does not say exactly how the smart glasses work. At the moment, they are trying to determine how long the treatment will last, how many days the wearer will need to wear the glasses or they have to wear them for the rest of their lives.

The Kubota company began human testing in July last year.

A survey suggests that many Asians have myopia. A survey from the Kubota company showed that by the age of 20, the rate of myopia reached 96% in Korea, 95% in Japan, 85% in Taiwan, and 82% in Singapore.

Ryo Kubota, the president of the company said that they planned to sell the product in Asia first where there were many people having eye condition. The Tokyo-based company will commercialize the prescription glasses in Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia in the second half of 2021. Kubota is still considering whether to sell the glasses in-store or online.
