India’s hatred for China has gone beyond threats on social media.

The border tension between the two countries has led to a wave of boycotting Chinese merchandise and the situation has just escalated.

According to a report from CyberMedia Research, one out of four phone retailers in smaller Indian cities have stopped stocking Chinese smartphones. The survey was done between April and September.

That’s not all. Many customers said they weren’t just boycotting Chinese goods, they were also trying to avoid buying from retailers who stock products from Chinese brands.

According to the survey, two out of five customers said they didn’t want to upgrade to smartphones made by Chinese companies. The trend is popular among citizens in Kanpur, Ranchi, Jabalpur, and Mumbai.

This sentiment towards Chinese phone makers means customers are now more inclined to buy from local companies like Lava and South Korean brand Samsung.
