India Does The Best In Supporting Women In Technology, Research Finds

Gender equality is important and India is doing better than the rest of the world in including women in the field of technology.

To help improve gender equality in a country, raising women’s representation in employment is one strategic move. Among industries, technology is a particular one that underestimates women, and discrimination has led to the sentiments of females in technology, they want their organizations to take more actions.

According to research conducted by Booking.com on the diversity of technology around the world, India might be doing better than other countries in bringing women into tech entrepreneurs and engineers.

Among the country’s women in tech, 75 percent believe that gender diversity is the top priority in this industry. Also, 26 percent of Indian women in tech think their companies are not hiring or promoting women enough, while on average, 54 percent of women across the world thinks the opposite. Anyway, it’s clear that tech companies need to spend more effort in nurturing female talent, regarding new entrants as well as veterans in this field.

For example, it is believed by 83 percent of them that taking a break is likely to have negative impacts on their careers, no matter if it’s a job change, maternity leave, or anything else. Meanwhile, 87 percent say that the tech industry needs to be more active to help them integrate into the workforce. In addition, experts believe more efforts in this direction can lead to more great results for tech companies.

There is 45 percent of women who believe that taking a break from the industry to upgrade their skill is a critical factor to succeed. Moreover, 88 percent said that their companies supported them in improving their technical skills; this is the highest figure across the globe.

About 90 percent well acknowledge that they are bringing positives to the workforce, who think that having more women in a company results in more flexible benefits for HR as well as a better workplace. Plus, they say that this helps strengthen a company’s reputation and gain public trust if it supports gender equality.
