In the video, a farmer can be seen sitting on a tree bike which was attached on a coconut tree. Once he pushed the button, the device went up, which made it easier for the farmer to pick the coconuts.
A user later shared the video on Twitter.
The tree bike caught the attention of people on Twitter. Among them is Anand Mahindra, Mahindra and Mahindra group’s chairman. Mahindra praised Ganapathi Bhat, the farmer, for his creative invention.
Bha comes from Sajipamooda village in Bantwal, which locates between Puttur and Mangaluru districts of Karnataka.
Mahindra then went on Twitter to tag the President of Farm Equipment Sector and suggest him to direct a team on researching the invention to put in in their Farm Solutions portfolio.
Mahindra also praised the farmer’s efforts and his cool invention. He also added that the device seems to works really well and is designed to have a minimum weight.
In an interview with ANI, Bhat said:
Southern Indian farmers often suffer from serious injuries and deaths from climbing up the palm trees. Once the invention becomes popular and ready, the risk can be eliminated. People hope that Mahindra and Mahindra can put this machine on the markets in the future and provide the palm farmers with a new harvesting solution.
