Huawei Introduces New Elevator Controller Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Amid Coronavirus outbreak, Huawei Cloud has introduced an elevator controller solution, to minimize the contact between humans and the elevator buttons.

Preventing the spread of Coronavirus has become more and more important. Especially in China, wearing face masks or protective suits might not even be enough.

For people living or working in buildings, going up and down using the elevator can have a very high risk of infection. And to deal with this, Huawei Cloud IoT has teamed up with Wanglong Intellignece to design an elevator controller solution, to minimize the contact between humans and the elevator buttons.

Huawei's contactless smart elevator solution is used to ensure consistency in managing access to the elevator. Moreover, it also offers other features like summoning the elevator remotely using an app, Bluetooth or WeChat.

All users have to do is take out their phone, select a floor number without having to touch any button when they want to go up or down the building.

Specifically, all users have to do is take out their phone, select a floor number without having to touch any button when they want to go up or down the building. Of course, even when the outbreak ends, this is still a great solution to offer users with a smarter and more convenient way to use the elevator.

Starting from now, government agencies, businesses, schools, and public buildings in China will be able to take full advantage of this new smart elevator solution from Huawei. This will help reduce the risk of Coronavirus infection, especially when the situation has become unpredictable.

The virus is believed to have come from Wuhan’s Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, which is a trading place for wildlife. On 23 January, to prevent the virus from spreading, the Chinese authorities put the city under lockdown. Some airlines have also suspended their flights to mainland China. According to researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the genome sequenced taken from seven patients were reportedly 96% identical to coronavirus from bats.
