Following accounts that talk about your liking still is the only way for you to keep up with things on Twitter. However, the social media now suggest a new way for you to eye on your favorite topics more easily when it has already rolled out a new feature to satisfy our need, allowing us to follow topics. This will help avoid checking a specific hashtag and relevant keywords too obsessively amidst a rising phase of controversial discussions and other viral stuff.
Once the feature is widely available to the public, Twitter users will notice a suggestion that promotes them to “See more about this Topic.” This will appear in both users’ timeline and Search bar, depending on their “following accounts” as well as what the search query was. We haven’t known whether Twitter will make all types of subjects available, but it’s certain that the company will soon expand its availability in the coming months.
The company said in an announcement that following a topic will make pop-up tweets arrive in your timeline, which also comes from accounts talking about the same things. As such, you can read opinions from not only experts but also opposite sides. Those tweets will be labeled, so you won’t be confused when some quirks take place there. However, we might not expect too much on them because Twitter hasn’t yet to ensure that all the tweets you get are high-quality.
Finally, you can unfollow topics and add other ones conveniently, right from your menu or timeline.
