Hyundai has planned to develop fingerprint technology in its latest cars in 2019 as the evidence that the regular features apparently no longer attract the South Korean automotive manufacturer. Forget all kinds of car keys you get too familiar with traditional cars! On December 28th, 2018, at an auto show in China, Hyundai introduced the initial details of Santa Fe SUV that will expectedly come soon in 2019.
The fingerprint technology sounds to be destined for smartphones, but it is now developed on made by Hyundai cars to unlock them without keys. Not only that, but the automotive maker also integrates the modern tech into a string of triggers to activate other functions in its cars.
In a statement, Hyundai reveals that many drivers can register their own fingerprint data that is encrypted to unlock the same car. Besides, the technology also enables to save all the driving behaviors of car’s owners. For example, when a registered driver unlocks the car by his fingerprint, it will automatically adjust the angles of mirrors and positions of seats to suit him the most. Steering and temperature control preference behaviors are expected to integrate into a car as well.
At the beginning of 2019, Hyundai will only introduce this kind of technology in China. If the Santa Fe 2019 becomes the first automobile to sport the fingerprint technology in its ignition or door handle, those who drive the Model 3 from Tesla will be able to benefit the fingerprint sensor on smartphones to activate their cars.
The security system of the technology is also the confidence of Hyundai. According to the automaker, the error rate of its fingerprint technology reaches 1/50,000, similar to that of Apple. Hence, it’s unnecessary to care for the security of the technology and with it, Hyundai may mark its impressive development through each latest technological feature in the world of automobiles.
