There is already a robot that is capable of making fast food burgers. And now, there is an AI that will take your orders.
Previously this month, Valyant AI, a startup in Colorado, announced its launch for the AI customer service platform which is voice-based. The platform is used to take customer orders at Good Times Burgers and Frozen Custard’s drive-thru in Denver.
Rob Carpenter, Valyant AI’s CEO, said during a press release:
This fast food AI from Valyant is different from other multipurpose assistants like Siri or Alexa as it only has one set of skills: greet customers, take orders, and transferred these orders. Carpenters said that using artificial intelligence for this kind of tasks would bring benefits to both restaurants and customers.
He said:
Scott Lefever, Good Times COO, thinks that this AI platform can actually benefit even the employees.
He explained:
Currently, Artificial Intelligence from Valyant only takes breakfast orders at only one restaurant. But with recent announcement on robots and other applications for the food industry including self-cleaning equipment, cooking robots, and self-serve kiosks, it’s clear that there is a trend toward automation.
And it’s not like these machines are snatching away human jobs as fast food companies are reportedly having a hard time searching for and keeping employees.
Peter Saleh, a restaurant analyst, said in an interview with Business Insider:
