A medic claims that people who carry the Coronavirus can pass it on to other people through their farts. However, according to experts, this claim needs more research to verify whether it is true.

Andy Tagg, an Australian doctor claimed farting can spread the Coronavirus after conducting some tests with samples from Coronavirus patients. He said the virus was found in the feces of 55% of COVID-19 patients.

Some other researchers have confirmed that farts carry minute poo particles that can spread germs.

He cited some previous tests that have shown that the air from humans’ anus can spread talcum powder over a large distance.

According to Dr. Sarah Jarvis, Clinical Director and GP of patientaccess.com, the chance of someone catching the Coronavirus from farts is very small.

However, she did not rule out the chance of contracting the disease through someone feces so the doctor urged people to maintain proper toilet hygiene, given that the virus has been found in human waste.

In 2001, Luke Tennent and Karl Kruszelnicki, a microbiologist and an Australian doctor carried out experiments to see if farts could spread diseases.

What they did was to ask a person to fart to two Petri dishes, placed five centimeters away, first with pant and second without. What they found out was that the first dish was still clean after one night while there were bacteria on the other.

However, the duo added that the bacteria could not cause any disease.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention of China announced that pants could be a useful barrier to block farts that can spread the Coronavirus. It said that if people wore pants, the virus would not likely to be spread out.

They also warned that if a patient was not having a pant on and he or she released a large amount of gas, someone in the vicinity might catch the virus.

Earlier this month, some scientists also urged people to close the toilet before they flush as the virus can be carried in aerosolized poo.
