Messenger, a personal messaging platform used by many Facebook users will be soon available for desktop users. At F8 conference for developers that took place in San Jose, California, Facebook said one of its upcoming plans is to bring Messenger to Windows and Mac later this year.
The development and popularity of smartphones today has made the growth of computers slower. However, office workers spend most of their time on PCs and Macs because of the nature of their work. Therefore, building a dedicated Messenger application for desktop computers will help Facebook users to continuously operate in its ecosystem.
A Facebook spokesman said:
This development of Messenger will bring more convenience to people who use desktop computers every day for their work.In addition to meeting the needs of desktop users, this plan also helps Facebook to earn a huge amount of money because Messenger on desktops will become a fertile ground for advertising companies. Businesses will want to invest more money on this platform in order to enhance customer care services and promote their products.
The basic features of Messenger on the mobile device version will be fully available in the desktop version. This software is built based on Facebook Messenger website (messenger.com). The site itself works much faster than using Messenger on the main Facebook webpage. It can be said that for regular messenger.com users, the fact that Messenger will officially become a desktop software is great news.
According to Facebook, the Messenger for desktop software is still in beta and will be available to all users later this year.
