The ongoing war between Epic Games and Apple has created a business opportunity for some people who have iOS devices with Fortnite preinstalled.
With Fortnite leaving App Store, owners of iPhones and iPads now have no easy way to receive updates or install the game on their devices. This leaves a gap in the market and some people have already taken the chance.
The last few days have seen eBay filled with listings of iPhones with Fortnite for sale at a ridiculously high price from $2,300 to $3,500. The irony here is Fortnite is a freemium game.
The bad blood between Epic Games and Apple has caused Fortnite to be removed from App Store and Apple being dragged into a lawsuit because of its 30% cut from all transactions made via its platform.
By offering a discount whenever users circumvent Apple’s 30% cut policy, Epic Games has waged a war with the iPhone maker, which has enough resources to retaliate.
After pulling Fortnite off App Store, Apple threatened to disable Epic Games’ developer account, which will render Unreal Engine inaccessible to iOS software makers.
