If you have seen Elon Musk and Kayne West’s latest picture, there is no way you can miss Musk’s bizarre collection, which is visible in the background of the image.
The image was taken by Grimes, the current girlfriend of SpaceX’s CEO to mark his and rapper Kayne West’s 10 years friendship.
In the glass case behind them, a statue of a female body can be seen. Musk reportedly paid $150,000 for it. The artwork is part of the Hajime Sorayama's Sexy Robot_Floating work, which has six humanoids put in glass cases in a dark room, with light illuminating them.
The artwork was shown at Tokyo Pop Underground show of Jeffrey Deitch last year. There are six artists’ proofs, one of which now belongs to Elon Musk, and 15 editions.
With Musk’s worth of $46.3 billion, he is plenty able to buy one of these sexy robots. However, his name and the price were never mentioned by Deitch as it was a common practice for him to not reveal collectors’ names and how much they paid for artworks.
The sexy robot statue is a nice ornament to Musk’s California home, one of the houses he said he would sell. In May, SpaceX’s CEO and his girlfriend Grimes (Claire Boucher) welcomed their first son named X AE A-XII.
Grimes and Musk have been a couple for about two years. The first time showed up in public as boyfriend and girlfriend was at 2018’s Met Gala.
