SpaceX’s Starlink beta service has been rolled out and some early adopters reported speed faster than 95% of current leading Internet providers.
One early adopter reported that Starlink enables 4K and 1440p streaming with no buffering and another shared a screenshot showing a latency of 38 milliseconds.
A handful of users received an email telling them not to expect too much from the service. It warns them of brief periods with no connectivity and tells them they should expect 20ms to 40ms of latency and 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s of speed.

However, contrary to what the email states, speed and connectivity seem to surpass expectations.
The email also shows early adopters having to pay almost $600 upfront to be able to use the service.
The sum is made up of a monthly fee of $99 and a Starlink kit that costs $499. The kit includes a WiFi router, mounting tripod, and a terminal that looks exactly like a UFO on a stick.
Kenneth Auchenberg shared his experience using Starlink from Washington State, saying that he was able to stream 4K and 1140p on YouTube with no buffering.

Elon Musk himself saw the tweet and replied that bandwidth and latency would improve soon.
Auchenberg said on Reddit that the terminal he installed on his roof had been getting high speeds. The post said there were a few interruptions which he thought caused by the transition of satellites but overall, he experienced nearly 100% steady performance.

Another user but this time from Montana shares a screenshot showing 33.40 Mbps in upload speed and 174.21 Mbps in download speed.
It wasn’t until recently that the Starlink kit was made public. Bilklo Gramps shared a photo of the black box with Starlink logo prints on the flap.

The first batch of satellites making up the constellation was launched on May 23 last year and today, SpaceX has had 835 devices in low-Earth orbit.
The company aims at launching a minimum of 2,200 satellites in the next five years to offer worldwide coverage.
