It seems that thieves don't fear diseases, they even see COVID-19 as an opportunity to do their business. A theft happened, resulting in Rs 90 crore loss.

While CODIV-19 is spreading quickly around the world and everyone is busy dealing with it, a group of thieves has got another thing to do.

According to Artnet News, three painting masterpieces, which may cost a total of about Rs 90 crore, were stolen last week. Those paintings were shown at the Christ Church Picture Gallery at the University of Oxford. As reported, the thieves have stolen 3 paintings created during the 16th and 17th centuries; they are A Rocky Coast, With Soldiers Studying a Plan of Salvator Rosa, A Boy Drinking of Annibale Carracci and the other is A Soldier on Horseback of Anthony Van Dyck’s.

The three stolen pictures are worth a total of Rs 90 crore

Local authorities and the police in the British are trying to identify how the thieves could get into the gallery and appealing people for any clues to help them with the investigation. The Thames Valley Police said that they were doing their best to track the crime to find out the paintings and bring the thieves to justice. For the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are more difficulties but they also affirm that the police will increase the number of officers in the crime scene area to push the investigation.

In the meantime, Christ Church college is calling for help from the public in order to recover the “important cultural artifacts” sooner and express the extreme appreciation for the quick reaction of the British police.

The thieves took advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic

Christ Church College is very proud of its historical collection donated by General John Guise in 1765. And such precious gifts should be protected carefully all the time, but with most schools closed and staff reduced due to COVID-19, this case is unpredicted.

Hopefully, the police will be able to uncover and close these cases soon. Who knows if there is any other thief out there taking advantage of this tragedic situation to make their crimes happen.
