With the yellow Tesla logo, the Tesla short shorts are sold to mock investors who short-sold the company’s shares. Right after the shorts were available online, they were immediately out of stock. However, at this moment, when Christmas is approaching, some customers ordering the shorts claimed that they hadn’t received the product.
Twitter users have askes Elon Musk about orders for the shorts while others decided to take their anger to Reddit.
According to some other users who ordered the shorts in July, they received emails from Tesla a few weeks later, saying that due to high demand, the shorts would be shipped “this fall.”
Others recounted that they received another email in October, saying that delivery would be made immediately.
The price of these Tesla short shorts is $69.42. At the beginning of this year, Musk even joked that he would send some of these shorts to the Shortseller Enrichment Commission, a name he used to describe the US Securities and Exchange Commission for forcing him to step down from his position and pay a $20 billion fine for posting on Twitter about Tesla’s privatization.
At the moment, those who have already received the shorts are selling them for a very high price on auction sites like eBay. This isn’t the first time Musk has used shorts to mock Tesla critics. Back in 2018, he sent David Einhorn, the founder of Greenlight Capital and who has long held a pessimistic view of Tesla, a couple of short and asked him to wear them for a selfie.
Tesla hasn’t commented on this matter.
