COVID-19 Safety Approved: Restaurant With Only One Table In The Middle Of A Field

This Swedish eatery has figured out how to provide its customers with a safe dining experience by serving only one at a time with a table in an empty field.

Because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, most cafes and restaurants are forced to close. But this Swedish eatery has figured out how to provide its customers with a safe dining experience by serving only one at a time with a table placed in an empty field.

Claiming to be one of the safest restaurants is surely a bold statement, but Bord för en restaurant can justify its claim. The unique eater consists of a wooden table with a single chair, placed in the middle of a field near Ransäter town, a rural town in Sweden with a population of only 114 residents. The restaurant also provides the customer with guidelines on how to minimize the risk of infection during the pandemic. The unique idea of Bord för en has been complimented as a creative approach during a difficult time for the service industry.

A short description on the website of the restaurant reads:

Quote

The creator behind Bord för en is a couple, Rasmus Persson and Linda Karlsson who are from Ransäter. They believe that the ideal eating concept should be solo-dining as it gets rid of all distractions, allowing the customer to savor the taste of the food.

And with the COVID-19 pandemic and social-distancing recommendation, it happened to perfectly fit their concept of a restaurant with one single table. So they decided to go with it.

There is no waiting staff. Diners will serve themselves with the food and drinks that are sent down from a kitchen window in a picnic basket through a rope. Those who lucky enough to book a place at the restaurant on May 10 will receive instructions on how to go from the Ransäter bust stop while avoiding social interaction. Six hours before the guest arrives, the chair and table will be disinfected while the dishes will be washed twice.

There a three-course vegetarian menu offered at this restaurant. And Rasmus Persson was the one to create the menu himself as he is a trained chef. If the chef grows tired of the current menu, it will be changed. At the moment, the menu consists of Råraka (a hashbrown but in Swedish style), main dish Black & Yellow with serpent root ash and sweet corn croquettes, and dessert Last Days of Summer with viola sugar, iced buttermilk, and blueberries.
