Since COVID-19 is spreading around the world at an alarming rate, elementary and junior high schools in Japan have been closed for two weeks following Prime Minister Abe Shinzo's call to strengthen the epidemic prevention measures.
Normally, Japanese schools finish sometime between the end of March and the beginning of April. However, because COVID-19, the closure of schools has led to many kids missing their graduation ceremony.
But some Japanese kids have come up with an adorable solution. If they couldn’t attend their school’s graduation ceremony, then why not hold one in a place they meet often, Minecraft!
The original post was from a Japanese Twitter user who showed a virtual graduation ceremony that his elementary-school son and his friends had put together.
What’s impressive is that they did this all by themselves without the help of an adult.

COVID-19 has officially been declared by the World Health Organization as a pandemic. The world has recorded over 197,000 cases with more than 7,900 deaths. The virus is believed to have come from Wuhan’s Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, which is a trading place for wildlife. On 23 January, to prevent the virus from spreading, the Chinese authorities put the city under lockdown. Some airlines have also suspended their flights to mainland China.
Preventing the spread of the virus, many governments have shut down colleges, schools, colleges until further notice. Restaurants are facing a huge loss in profit as people avoid public places in fear of COVID-19. Travelers arriving at airports and borders will have their body temperatures checked by the medical staff. Public transportation including buses, metro, and trains are disinfected regularly.
