Class XII teenager cracked into CounterStrike server and stole virtual coins worth Rs 2 lakh.

A class XII student was accused of hacking into the server of a company based in Bengaluru, which is responsible for running the mobile version of the popular computer game Counterstrike.

He is believed to transfer Rs 2 lakh worth of virtual coins into his own account in the game and then used what he had stolen to purchase some more cryptocurrencies.

CounterStrike is a favorite computer game

Before this incident, he had opened 12 accounts with 12 email IDs, used 4 cellphones, and pretended to be different players. What he did was to let his character of the main account kill the clone ones to gain points and coins. This was possible because the boy operated the accounts at the same time from all the four mobile phones. The points were later converted into money from the account of his choice.

The boy admitted that he cracked into the system by using C++ and Java hacking techniques. However, he did not invent the method himself but was taught by another player whom he met on the game chat room. The teenager reached for the gamers via the chat option when he was not able to get through the highest bots.

After finding out about what he had done, the company brought the matter to the Delhi Police.

The authority tracked the IP address of the phone and the evidence pointed to Mukherjee Nagar, leading to his capture. However, the teenager was not prosecuted for his actions because he is minor at the time of committing the fraud. After the boy returned the coins, he was let off.

DCP Jasmeet Singh said later, the boy admitted that he had transferred the money while being in counseling after the police found out about the IP address that operated the number was traced back to the same address.
