Cyber attacks in recent time that have targeted the U.S Navy Contractors are suspected to be related to China.

Recently, the Wall Street Journal reported that the contractors working for the U.S. Navy have reportedly suffered many breaches in the past 18 months and been targeted by hackers related to China. It is known that classified military information involving data of ship maintenance and missile plans have been stolen by these hackers, according to security experts and officials.

The report said that these hackers had attacked several contractors' systems. Worse, not all smaller firms have the required resources for protecting their work.

According to reports, earlier this year, infiltrators hacked the plans for a supersonic anti-ship missile which were supposed to be used by US submarines. In addition, labs for military research at universities also became targets for these infiltrators. Officials claimed that according to identified evidence, it is clear that China stands behind these attacks.

Richard Spencer, the secretary of the U.S Navy, has ordered a check of the weaknesses of the cybersecurity. He also warned in a memo written in October that the attacks on their networks had increasingly become not only more serious but also more sophisticated. Therefore, he called on decisive actions to have a full understanding of these attacks’ nature and to prevent hackers from stealing important military information.

Furthermore, Rob Joyce, an official of the National Security Agency also reported at the beginning of this week that the attacks from Chinese hackers have been increasing in the U.S. According to him, the cyber attacks from China are going to be elevated from stealing confidential information to important infrastructure. These attacks have targeted the U.S health care, energy, financial and transportation sectors.  Some official of the U.S also raised doubts about China’s involvement in the Marriott attack which had disclosed the personal information of the number of people up to 500 million.
