Discovering the database is clearly making the world shocked and indignant. However, it seems that nobody knows who collected and wrote this list.
China is known for strictly controlling every issue relating to its population, including how they spend on daily routine and how they interact with society.
In recent times, a credible source revealed that Chinese women are being tracked what is referred to as “breedready” status. The “breedready” word is described as a term to determine whether a woman can give birth or not. Such sensitive data should be protected but it is not, in fact.
On March 09, the GDI Foundation’s internet expert named Victor Gevers posted a tweet with a collection of screenshots of the disgusting list he found out when searching for the open databases of China.
In the list, there were a series of personal information collected from over 18 lakhs Chinese women, such as address, birthday, phone number, marital status, as well as education level. However, the most notable category was “breedready”, of which, the women who can give birth will be marked by a “1”, and the others who can’t do this will be marked by a “0”.
Gevers said that the database even gathered the information of a 15-year-old woman and a 95-year-old one. That means China doesn’t miss any chance to monitor its women citizens, including those who are too young or too old to have children.
Also in the list, an 18-year-old woman was determined as the youngest one with the “breedready” status of “1”, meanwhile the oldest one is 39. These ones have the average “breedready” age of 32. They may be widowed, divorced, married or single.
Discovering the database is clearly making the world shocked and indignant. However, it seems that nobody knows who collected and wrote this list.
Some think that all of the databases derived from a dating app or an undetermined company. However, experts have recently said to leaders in China that their country is facing some issues from population decline and as a result, their economy may be destroyed in the future.
It’s not odd when some believe that the Chinese government have tried to deal with their population issue by building the database. On Douban – a famous discussion forum in China, a massive amount of users remember a dystopian drama series called “The Handmaid’s Tale” in which the government forced women to give birth to handle the fertility issue.
According to what Gevers revealed, the database was available for anyone to access the internet. A few days after his proclamation, users could no longer access the data.
