Boston Dynamics has been very well-known for uploading amazing videos showing robots doing almost everything on YouTube. There are viral videos in which robodogs are twerking and moonwalking to “Uptown Funk”, as well as robot atlas doing difficult parkour techniques like walking on rough terrain or doing backflips flawlessly.
Moreover, Boston Dynamics has recently released a video illustrating how engineers test the robustness of the robots, by using hockey sticks to whack them from sides to sides.
Corridor Digital, which is a production studio based in LA, has now published a parody video illustrating the situations when the robots are fed up with being abused. This video is said to be chilling and hilarious at the same time.
As can be seen in the clip, a bipedal robot is being put through the handling packages’ paces by Bosstown Dynamics’s engineers. This bipedal robot seems to be getting to work at a shipping warehouse.
However, soon they start to hit the robot with an abuse level particularly for “Jackass” imitators or backyard wrestlers. Afterward, the robot is smacked across its back using a folding chair, a real whip is also cracked at the robot, and the robot is finally blinded with spray paint.
There is also a point when the company’s engineers start to shoot at the bot and at the same time expect the robot to continuously handle the packages.
Finally, the bot snaps some well-positioned kicks afterward and holds a small gun whilst the company’s engineers are holding some boxes.
Obviously, the parody video is hilarious as it’s meant to be. However, it raises a concern about how humans may come up with a technology that they cannot control and the situations when that tech decides to take revenge on humans.
