Some parents should really think carefully before gifting their kids stuff. With this incident, the couple learned it the hard way. Their 7-year-old son decided to swallow a pair of Apple AirPods.
The couple gave the little boy the Airpods as a gift. The weird thing is at his age, he should be playing with toys or reading books, instead of listening to music with AirPods. And after the boy made a decision of ingesting the AirPods, the couple freaked out and immediately took him to the ER.
In a Facebook post, the boy’s mother, Kiara Stroud, shared an X-ray image that belongs to her son. The image clearly showed that there was a wireless earbud just below the rib cage. He was holding the stem of the earphone when he swallowed it.
Although they were terrified, the couple said that they hadn’t yelled at him to not make things worse. Stroud wrote that her son already felt bad for what he did. So all they could do was telling him that it was okay so that he could stay calm for the doctors to take the earphone out.
Since the earphone had metal in it, it showed up in the X-ray image. The boy was admitted to an emergency room at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The doctors said that the Airpod will come out on its own. With this incident, parents really need to rethink if they ever want to get their 7-year-old kids a pair of Apple AirPods.
