A California-Based Tech Company Partners With Fiat Chrysler To Manufacture Self-Driving Cars

The partnership with the global automakers will help Aurora to manufacture Aurora-Driver-compatible vehicles, which supports its own self-driving system, at large scale.

On June 10, Aurora, a tech company in California, confirmed its collaboration with the UK automobile maker Fiat Chrysler to produce self-driving cars.

According to the agreement between the two companies, Aurora will be responsible for expanding and improving its existing software designed for automotive driverless systems. The US tech company revealed that via the deal, it could “offer a variety of solutions to strategic customers in logistics, transit, and other use cases.”

In recent times, we have seen a series of innovations relating to self-driving vehicles, and as per Aurora, the company has agreed with many renowned automotive companies from Volkswagen (German) to Hyundai (Korea)

Another notable thing hails from Aurora’s founders. Many of them worked for world-class tech companies such as Tesla, Alphabet, and Uber. With such a leadership team, the California-based startup always knows exactly what they should do to reach the most ideal results in their work.

Also on June 10, the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Mike Manley said, “As part of FCA’s autonomous vehicle strategy we will continue to work with strategic partners in this space to address the needs of consumers in a rapidly changing industry.”

He added, “Aurora brings a unique skillset combined with advanced and purposeful technology that complements and enhances our philosophy on self-driving.”

It may take us a period of time to see with our own eyes the self-driving cars in the market.

The race to manufacture self-driving cars has become more and more severe, and that’s why both tech companies and automakers have made more efforts to assert their own positions in this industry. All of them hope to create the most outstanding products in the market.

At the beginning of this year, Aurora managed to sign a 530 million dollar deal with two other big companies including the tech firm Amazon and the venture capital company Sequoia.

The partnership with the global automakers will help Aurora to manufacture Aurora-Driver-compatible vehicles, which supports its own self-driving system, at large scale.

Both Aurora and Fiat Chrysler haven’t revealed their financial agreements publicly, and it may take us a period of time to see with our own eyes the self-driving cars in the market.
